EAT - CHEE CHEONG FUN KEDAI KOPI SOON YUEN

by - Monday, October 05, 2009

Lee Lih Yen, 35 has recently taken over from her aunt Lim Mooi Kooi, who was selling the Chee Cheong Fun for past 20 years. Penang Chee Cheong Fun (rice flour) different from others sold in other parts in Malaysia. Here, it is simple dish of plain rice rolls drizzled with aromatic shallot oil, sweet sauce and prawn paste sauce which is gives its a characteristic pungency.

Located @ Jalan Kuala Kangsar.

Ice Hafor Chow @ RM1.10. A great combination of herbs tea with the chee heong fun.

Chee Cheong Fun @ RM1.70. The rice noodle are from supplier, but the stall makes its own chili, sweet and prawn paste. The thick prawn paste sauce sauce it's very pleasant; it does not have much of a telltale smell on breath. Topped with roasted sesame seeds.

Overall I will vote:
8/10 for the service. Efficient.
8/10 for the food quality and quantity of the food excellent. Cheap & nice.
6/10 for the environment. Just ordinary kopitiam.

Location:

25 & 26,
Jalan Kuala Kangsar,
Georgetown, Penang.

Operation hours:
7 am - 12.30 am
