Some people might do not know that I don't really like to eat at Indian stall (not raciest) due to most of their food too oily. Last few weeks, I had my lunch at Banana Leaf at Bangsar where it's quite famous and cheap as well. It's quite hard to find parking since the restaurant is located at the heart of the most happening area at Bangsar. With Rebecca way, parking is not a problem.

I can add a lot of rice and curry at Nirwana without extra charge and normally the rice will come with usual 3 types of vegetables. You also can choose your favourite curry curry and of course condiments such as deep fried salted chili.

The service quite fast also and you just need to sit back and wait to be served. Four pieces of banana leaves were promptly placed in front of us, and shortly after that came the rice, sliced cucumbers in yoghurt, fried long beans and crunchy fried bitter gourd.

I thought it's just by the name only, banana leaf. I don't expect they will really serve on the banana leaf a our plate. Banana leaf rice is an interesting concept as the servings of rice and vegetables are unlimited. The waiter will come over to your table and bring the pot contain the food and serve to you. Same like some of traditional Indian wedding.

Someone told me that they have an etiquette when you eat on banana leaf. If you find the food good, you should fold the leaf away from you and if you feel otherwise, then fold it towards you.

We were also served fried papadums (spicy Indian crackers), rasam (a spicy Indian soup that tastes quite similarly to mulligatawny soup) and one can order various types of meat dishes to complement the meal.

For those who do not know, the standard of banana leaf rice is basically a vegetarian dish. However, you can always add fish, mutton, chicken, fried fish roe and squid, and a host of other side dishes for a meal worthy of any glutton. I add tandori chicken where it's cost me at RM5 per plate.

Banana Leaf Set @ RM5.00
I get shock when the set of banana leaf only RM5.00. Oh ya, all vegetable by the way ^^"

Overall I will vote:
7/10 for the service. Efficient & you can add extra stuff without extra charge.
7/10 for the food quality and quantity. Price reasonable and worth to try.
7/10 for the environment. Clean and preferably fresh sheet of banana leaf.
